Fires in Timaru, Christchurch overnight investigated

Fire investigators are looking into the causes of fires in Timaru and Christchurch overnight.

Fire crews were called to a house in Aynsley St, Timaru, about 7.45pm after a car caught fire inside a garage.

Southern fire communications shift manager Karl Patterson said the fire was well involved when crews from Timaru and Washdyke arrived.

No one was injured.

The Fire Service also received multiple 111 calls about a house fire in Mattingley St, Aranui about 1am today.

No one was inside the single-storey house, Mr Patterson said.
