Firefighters reject latest contract offer

The heat is on firefighters to accept a new employment contract, as their union rejects yet another Fire Service offer.

The Fire Service has warned the Professional Firefighters Union it will axe provisions to backdate a pay rise to July 1 last year if the union does not settle the outstanding contract by June 30.

But union president Mike McEnaney said firefighters did not appreciate being made scapegoats in a game of "cat and mouse."
