The scrub fire that burnt around 70 hectares of scrubland near Picton has been contained.
However, the Fire Service said today that up to 40 firefighters will continue to dampen down hot spots and build fire breaks in the Oyster Bay area north east of Picton.
It is suspected the fire started
when high winds knocked over power lines causing sparks that set fire to scrub and pine forest on Friday night.
Yesterday, around 60 Fire Service and Rural Fire staff assisted by four helicopters battled the blaze, which was fanned by gale force winds.
Three homes had to be evacuated on Friday night as fire threatened their homes.
The Fire Service said 15 firefighters worked through the night last night, and two helicopters would remain on standby in case the fire re-ignites.
