Emergency services were called to the Otepuni Ave yard at 5.45pm.
The blaze, which was being treated as suspicious, had given off toxic smoke and fumes.
Staff from both the Fire Service and police attended.

central communications shift manager Daryl Ball said while several trucks remained at the site, the fire had been contained.
