Fire forces evacuation in Wellington restaurant

Around 30 people were evacuated from an inner-city Wellington restaurant at 6.45pm last night.

Diners and staff were forced to vacate Tulsi, an Indian eatery on Cuba Mall, when a fire started in the basement - some of them taking their dinners with them to finish on the street.

Four fire engine units and three pump appliances attended, and the fire was extinguished shortly after 7pm.
