Fire destroys part of former girls college

A large blaze tore through the former Tamaki Girls College in Glen Innes yesterday afternoon destroying half of the derelict school. It took 50 firefighters close to an hour to control the blaze.

The boarded-up building where the fire broke out is not used, but other parts of the school are used by Ngati Whatua Ki Orakei Maori Trust Board.
