A Boeing 767 carrying 230 passengers sparked an emergency callout this morning after a cockpit light failed.
The Air New Zealand flight NZ9 from Honolulu landed safely at Auckland International Airport about 6.30am.
An airline spokeswoman said the light, which would normally confirm the landing gear was in place, failed
to come on during the approach phase.
The captain took the precautionary step of advising air traffic control, she said.
But a visual check and other on board systems confirmed the gear was in place and the flight landed safely with no further incident.
