An elderly woman remains in hospital after she was assaulted during an incident in the Hawkes Bay this morning.
An 18-year-old man was also being treated for self inflicted knife wounds, police said.
Emergency services were called to a house on Grays Rd just after 7.30am today after a man was seen standing naked in the street, police said.
An off duty police officer drove past the man a short time later, and by the time he had turned his car around, the man had gone back inside the house.

The police officer found the man inside with stab wounds to the chest, police said.
An elderly female relative in her 70s was believed to have been assaulted by the man. She was in hospital with moderate head injuries.
The man is in a critical condition in hospital.
Police would continue with a scene examination at the Grays Rd house, and investigations were continuing.
No-one else was being sought in relation to the incident, police said.
