An ambulance has crashed in Dunedin with a patient on board after losing control on a slick surface
An ambulance officer is being treated for moderate injuries after an ambulance hit ice and slid off the road on the Southern Motorway near Dunedin tonight.
A St John spokesman said the ambulance was transporting a non-emergency patient when it left the road.
The injured officer, who was driving theambulance, has been taken to Dunedin Hospital.
The spokeswoman said the patient being transported was not injured in the crash.
"A new ambulance was sent and continued on with the patient to Clutha Health First," she said.
