A driver has been charged with drink driving after a car crashed into a house in Waikato this morning.
The car carrying four people smashed through a fence and paddock before hitting the unoccupied house in west of Hamilton.
No one was injured but the female driver was taken to Hamilton police station after failing a breath test.
Police said the 19-year-old was driving a silver sedan on Whatawhata Rd when the vehicle lost control on a sharp bend around 9.10am.
The car smashed through a fence and across a paddock before colliding with the house.
The driver was taken to Hamilton Central Police Station and has since been charged with dangerous driving and driving with an excess breath-alcohol level.
Senior sergeant Juliet Burgess of Waikato District Command Centre said there was "extensive damage" to the house's exterior stairs.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the silver sedan in the lead-up to the crash.
