Delays after worker accidentally sparks evacuation at Wellington train station

Wellington commuters travelling by train have been hit by delays this morning.

Metlink is warning commuters to expect delays across the network after a worker accidentally knocked a fire sprinkler.

That caused the Wellington train station to be evacuated just after 7am and brought all services to a halt.

Meanwhile, the 6.47am service from Masterton to Wellington is being held outside Maymorn after a truck hit a bridge.

And the 6.20am service on the same line had to be held at Waterloo station for approximately 23 minutes because of a medical emergency.

The central train station has reopened.
