Save Hawke's Bay people would have felt a light rumble from an earthquake centred 25km West of Murupara, at about 2.14pm this afternoon.
The quake measured 5.1 on the Richter scale and struck at a depth of 117km.
Some residents thought the movement was caused by high winds, while others didn't
feel it at all.
"Wasn't sure if it was wind shaking house or not," one Hawke's Bay Today reader said.
