The post said Dargaville and Baylys Beach should conserve water until further notice.
“We had built up the levels in the treatment plant reservoirs nicely (it holds around two days’ worth of water for the town, depending on demand), and we were at 80% in the reservoirs this morning.
“However, as a result of this leak and high consumption, we have dropped to around 50% over the course of today.”
The council highlighted consumption was about 120cu m per hour at the moment.
It said 1% of its reservoir was equal to 52cu m.
