Mike Hosking and Simon Dallow are the big names missing from TVNZ's news and current affairs line-up this year.
From Monday morning, Breakfast, the programme Hosking has hosted since it began in 1998, will be presented by Alison Mau.
TVNZ said it no longer employed Hosking, and would make nofurther comment.
Hosking was dumped as presenter of Sunday in July, and speculation has been rife since November rumours that his contract as Breakfast host would not be renewed.
The other name conspicuously missing from the new line-up is newsreader Simon Dallow.
Replacing him reading the weekend news will be Bernadine Oliver-Kerby.
Tony Veitch will read the weekend sports news.
TV One publicist Zara Potts said Dallow would be working at TVNZ on a documentary series and a new current affairs project.
Yesterday, Dallow told the Herald he was contractually prevented from commenting.
Judy Bailey will return to read the weekday news on Monday without her long-time news-reading partner, Richard Long, who was dumped at the end of last year.
Neil Waka will read weekday sport, and Kay Gregory and Karen Olsen will present the weather, replacing Jim Hickey, who also left at the end of last year.
Kate Hawkesby and Eric Young will read the late news bulletin, Tonight.
Joining One News as a supplementary newsreader is former TV3 newsreader Wendy Petrie.
TVNZ news chief Bill Ralston said news and current affairs at TVNZ had gone through a significant revamp that was meant to "inject some freshness into our product".
Since starting as head of news and current affairs last July, Ralston has set about dismantling TVNZ's celebrity culture.
Hosking did not return Herald phone calls yesterday.
TV3 said it was not considering employing him.
The early morning business programme, hosted by Michael Wilson, returns on Monday with the ASB Bank as its new sponsor.
Peter Williams will read the news on Breakfast and Midday.
