After this event, Terry Price and his Carrington clubmate, Judy Betts, were members of the four-person Wairarapa team contesting the Lower North Island teams event. Manawatu took that title with 13 wins, ahead of Wairarapa on 12.
The Central Districts veterans croquet tournament was played in Dannevirke last week with Terry Price runner-up to John Prince of Hawke's Bay.
Another Carrington player, Harry Murrell, made his first appearance since receiving his three handicap and had two excellent wins, one against a player on a two handicap and the other against a player on a half.
Sunday, December 16, will see the Wairarapa and Manawatu teams meeting at the Feilding Croquet Club in what will be the inaugural competition between these two provinces.
The Wairarapa side is: T Price, H Murrell, M Sedcole, C Carver, C Price, I Wyeth, S Pye and B Seymore. Unavailable were D Wickham and S Smith.
Each player will compete in a doubles game in the morning and a singles in the afternoon.
