Crash on Auckland’s Southern Motorway causes delays for Waitangi weekend holidaymakers

A four-vehicle crash has caused long delays on Auckland’s Southern Motorway as holidaymakers head out of town for Waitangi weekend.

The crash near the Walter Strevens overpass near Takanini was reported to police at 4.05pm.

The crash has now been cleared and all lanes are open; however, motorists should still expect delays, NZTA said.

Police earlier reported one vehicle flipped on its side.

“There are multiple injuries reported, ranging from minor to moderate.

“Motorists are asked to delay travel if possible and expect delays.”
