A car has crashed into a power pole this morning, causing delays on a state highway.
The crash happened this morning on State Highway 2 between Carterton and Masterton, northeast of Wellington.
One person was initially trapped in a car, but later freed, police central communications centre said.
There were no reports of anybody being injured in the crash but the power lines had come down near the Waiohine Bridge.

The New Zealand Transport Agency was urging motorists to allow extra time for journeys and be patient as emergency services worked at the crash scene.
Only one lane of the highway near the crash scene was open to traffic.
