Robert Gilmore, one of New Zealand's most respected journalists, has died in Auckland, aged 86.
Gilmore, whose career spanned 70 years, became well known for his column Give and Take in the Auckland Star and for his insightful profiles of many New Zealand personalities.
He served his cadetship at the Herald and worked for the Auckland Star until his retirement in 1980.
Gilmore continued to write for a number of international publications, including Time magazine.
