Man found dead at Rockpool Bar in Christchurch two hours after entering

A man has been found dead in a popular Christchurch bar two hours after asking to use the bathroom.

The Rockpool Bar manager, who the Herald has agreed not to name, said the man entered just after 7.30am and asked to use the bathroom.

It wasn’t until 9.30am when cleaning staff found him.

The manager said staff “didn’t realise” it had been two hours.

Police said the incident was a “non-suspicious medical event”.

Hato Hone St John said it was notified at 9.40am.
