E-scooter rider killed by train in Christchurch named as French national

An e-scooter rider who died after he was hit by a train was a French national living in Christchurch.

He was Maxime Antoine Vandenbosch, 30.

Police said they were called at 3.30am on Friday after a person had been struck on Lincoln Rd in Addington and had died at the scene.

“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of Maxime during this difficult time,” police said.

A Fire and Emergency southern shift manager said the fire service was called about 3.30am to assist police.

The accident is being investigated.
