Save A magnitude 3.8 earthquake shook Christchurch overnight.
The quake at 3.03am was centred 10km south of the city at a depth of 13km.
More than 900 people from as far away as Dunedin and Wellington reported the quake on the GeoNet website.
The Mercalli intensity, which measures how strong the
quake feels on the ground, was 5.
It followed another 3.8 magnitude quake 10km southeast of Christchurch on Sunday at 4pm.
