Christchurch police appeal for information after Hornby store worker’s arm broken in robbery

A Christchurch store worker’s arm has been broken in an aggravated robbery by four masked intruders.

Police said the worker was in the business on Main South Rd, Hornby, last night when four people wearing masks entered the store and stole items before fleeing in a stolen vehicle.

“During the robbery, one of the workers at the store was assaulted by one of the offenders and suffered a broken arm”, said Detective Sergeant Rebecca Podmore.

They were taken to hospital by ambulance after the incident, which occurred about 7.30pm, Podmore said.

Police found the stolen vehicle later in the evening on Ellesmere Rd, Lincoln, on the outskirts of Christchurch.

“However, the alleged offenders were not with the vehicle and have yet to be found.”

Police wanted to hear from anyone with information about the incident or the alleged offenders, she said.

“Additionally, if you were in the Main South Rd, or surrounding areas, in Hornby between 7pm and 8pm last night, and saw a grey Toyota RAV4 or have dashcam/CCTV footage of the vehicle, please get in touch.”

Information could be provided through 105, either online or over the phone, referencing file number 260327/8118.
