Cheaper petrol a welcome start to holiday weekend

UPDATE

Motorists planning to hit the road for the Labour Day weekend can save a few dollars on petrol, after Shell, BP and Caltex reduced their fuel prices by 10 cents a litre.

Shell and BP say their lower prices are in effect until midnight Saturday.

Caltex announced this morning that it would match the lower prices.

In major cities, the companies are selling unleaded 91 petrol at approximately 89 cents a litre, premium at 95 cents a litre and diesel at 62 cents a litre.
