Get on your motorcycle tomorrow and support the Life Education Trust.
A charity ride starts at 10.15am at the Copthorne Solway Park Hotel and includes a scenic ride before finishing back at the Copthorne.
The Life Education Trust (LET) uses a mobile classroom that visits schools and teaches children tomake informed choices about their health, to respect others and to appreciate their uniqueness.
Chairman of the LET Craig Esau said the most important aspect of the work they do is acting early to ensure good values are instilled in children heading into their teenage years.
"We are passionate about strengthening this 'fence at the top of the cliff' before it reaches the need to become an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff.
"I have worked with our youth at risk in Wairarapa and it is overwhelmingly obvious that we desperately need to put the work in at the early years," Mr Esau said.
There are 35 Community Trusts around New Zealand which teach 225,000 primary and intermediate school children each year.
Mr Esau said donations are essential to continue the service.
"As chairperson, my job and the job of our Trustees (who are all volunteers) is to make sure that our mobile classroom is able to visit every one of the 68 primary schools in our region - annually, or biennially.
"We rely on grants and donations to fund this operation and appreciate every cent that we can get towards reaching this goal," Mr Esau said.
Sign up for the ride costs $10 and can be done on the day or contact David Stephenson on 06 304 9175. All proceeds go to the Wairarapa and Southern Hawke's Bay Life Education Trust.
