Car rolls on Rimutaka Hill road

Featherston firefighters attended a single-vehicle crash on Rimutaka Hill road from which a single male occupant escaped unharmed yesterday.

A driver escaped injury after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a bank on the Rimutaka Hill road yesterday.

Featherston fire chief Colin McKenna said the middle-aged man was the only occupant of the four-wheel drive vehicle at the time of the crash about 12.30pm.

He said the vehicle had struck a bank and rolled about halfway up the Featherston side of the hill road and the driver had been "lucky" to walk away uninjured.
