Car plunges into water near Kaiaua, one dead

Emergency services are at the scene of a single car accident in which one person is believed to have died after plunging into the water near Kaiaua.
A Fire Service spokesman said the car was upside down in water near the Kaiaua Bridge on East Coast Rd -
about 1km north of Miranda.
The first response officer at the scene found one person trapped inside. The person was not moving and is believed to have died.
