Car crash: Patient in critical condition being choppered to hospital

A person in critical condition is being transferred to hospital by helicopter after a "serious" two-car crash near Rotorua.

Police were called to the crash at 6.30pm.

Settlers Road near the intersection with State Highway Five in Reporoa, is closed following the crash and the serious crash unit is investigating.

Diversions have been put in place at Reporoa and Broadlands Roads.
