Police have asked witnesses to help after an 18-year-old man died in a motorbike crash yesterday.
The man from Wellington was driving his red Yamaha XJ600 on State Highway 5, the Napier-Taupo road.
At about 3.30pm he crashed through an Armco roadside barrier some 2km east of the Te Haroto
summit cafe, police said.
Senior Constable Tim Rowe said the man was riding in a group of three travelling from Napier to Taupo.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
