Firefighters have battled two Christchurch house fires overnight - one of them considered suspicious.
Fire Service southern communications shift manager Lyn Crosson said crews from Wainoni and New Brighton were called to an abandoned earthquake-damaged house on Leaver Terrace, North New Brighton, about 10.43pm.
The house was "well involved" infire when crews arrived, Ms Crosson said.
She said the fire is considered suspicious and fire safety and police are investigating.
Meanwhile, firefighters from Akaroa and Little Bay were called to a blaze at a three-storey house on Onawe Flat Road in Duvauchelle Bay, Banks Peninsula, about midnight.
Mr Crosson said the fire was "going well" when crews arrived.
The fire was contained to the garage, however much of the house has suffered damage.
