Bus driver's death was result of medical condition

A 64-year-old bus driver found unconscious beside his bus in Lower Hutt died as a result of a medical condition, a post-mortem has found.

Epuni man Herman Curry was discovered unconscious - with his cash box missing - beside his bus at a Waterloo interchange at about 10pm on Friday.

A 17-year-old man and a 20-year-old man have been charged with stealing Mr Curry's cash box.

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been referred to Youth Aid in relation to the theft.

Detective Inspector Darrin Thomson this afternoon confirmed a medical condition was behind Mr Curry's death.

"We appreciate that the community had concerns over the weekend that Mr Curry was the victim of an assault. We are pleased that the preliminary results of the post-mortem examination have brought some closure to Mr Curry's family as they come to terms with his loss."

No further charges are likely to be laid against any of the people accused of being involved in the theft on Mr Curry's cash box, Mr Thomson said.
