British Prime Minister Tony Blair is to make a short visit to New Zealand this year.
It is understood the Labour leader will make the hop across the Tasman after attending the Commonwealth summit in Brisbane in October.
His two-day visit depends on his winning the general election he is expected to call before then.
Mr Blair will be the most powerful leader to come here since Bill Clinton, then US President, attended the Apec summit in 1999.
