Boy seriously injured after being hit by bus

A young boy has a serious leg injury after being hit by a bus during rush-hour in Hamilton this morning.

St John Ambulance spokesman Murray Bannister said the boy, thought to be 11 years-old, was hit by the bus at the intersection of Carrington Ave and Silverdale Rd in the city at about 8.30am.

Paramedics transported the boy to Waikato Hospital.

A police spokesman said the boy was riding a bicycle when he was hit by the bus. The scene has already been cleared.
