An 11-year-old Manawatu schoolboy had to jump out of a moving car to escape being abducted yesterday.
The boy was on his way to school on Kennedy Ave in Feilding after returning home to collect his lunch which he had forgotten when he was grabbed and forced into a man's car about 11.20am, Detective Sergeant Kevin Anstis said.
"He [the offender] drove past the kid down the street, turned around, came back and then forced him into the back of the car," Mr Anstis told the Manawatu Standard.
The car was driven off with the boy in the back seat for a few minutes before he escaped by jumping out of the moving vehicle.
He was uninjured.
The offender was described as Caucasian, wearing a red Holden jacket, grey pants and a balaclava and driving a grey four-door sedan.
