A Wairarapa College pupil was hit by a car and injured after an ill-timed dash across a Masterton road yesterday afternoon.
Masterton police Senior Sergeant Chris Megaw said the boy, aged 15, had been with a schoolmate while crossing from the western side of Chapel St to the Pak'n Save
supermarket at Kuripuni about 3.30pm.
"It seems one of them misjudged the timing of his run and put himself into the path of a southbound vehicle."
Mr Megaw said the 65-year-old woman at the wheel of the car had seen the two pedestrians and was travelling below the speed limit when the boy made his dash across the road.
The boy received injuries to his leg and was taken by ambulance to Wairarapa Hospital for assessment. The car received minor damage in the collision.
