Boost for Rotorua radiology department

Rotorua Hospital's radiology department is to expand thanks to a donation from the Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust.

The trust has given the Lakes District Health Board $1 million and is lending it another $1.3 million to pay for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner.

The cheque for $1 million was handed over at the board's Hospital Advisory Committee meeting this week, when further plans for the radiology department were unveiled.

They include hiring more radiology staff and building a new suite to cater for the expected extra workload.
