A loaded firearm disguised as a pen was found among more than $100,000 of P and related items in a raid which North Shore police say is their biggest in recent memory.
Two people, aged 40 and 26, were arrested during the sting at Northcote Pt on Fridayin which $77,000 of P was seized.
Tens of thousands of dollars of extra chemicals used to make the drug were also found, as well as tens of thousands in cash which had been stashed around the home.
The arrested pair each face seven charges, including possession of P for supply, supplying P, possession of materials and substances used in the manufacture of P and possession of a pistol. Police also found a can of pepper spray and a "pen gun" loaded with a single .22 calibre round, Senior Sergeant Rod Fraser said.
Pen guns are home-made and have been associated with other drug raids.
Mr Fraser said it was "not common but not out of the realms" to find suspects with pepper spray. The can found was not believed to be police-issued.
Mr Fraser urged the public to take note of their surroundings and report activity which could indicate drug involvements. "The address was relatively fortified and fitted with extensive external video surveillance and proximity alarms, which is not unusual for drug dealers operating from residential addresses," he said.
Other suspicious activity observed around drug houses was regular visits to the addresses by different people at all times of the day and night.
Mr Fraser urged the public to report such activity on the confidential text line 027-2727-669.
