It's official - Australia's hottest man is a New Zealander.
Dean Tahana, who was born in Balclutha, has been crowned 2007 Mister Manhunt Australia.
Dean, 29, who runs a mortgage finance business in Brisbane, has spent parts of his life in the Hokianga and Far North where his
father was born.
The idea for entering the Mr Manhunt Australia competition came from a bunch of mates who were keen to enter for a laugh.
"I entered the regionals up in Noosa, Queensland, when I was visiting my little girl, who lives with her mum there," he said.
"Then I went on to the national finals in Darwin, and I couldn't believe I won that. I was chuffed as."
He beat 17 other finalists in four categories - swimwear, photographic, evening wear and an interview.
His win saw him take home $20,000 in cash and prizes, and guarantees him a front cover of the 2009 Mr Australia calendar.
The title of Mr Manhunt Australia also means Dean goes to either China or the Philippines for the world Manhunt competition.
