Australian security guard talks being involved in viral chair-throwing clip outside Melbourne club

Melbourne security guard Jack told The Hits' Breakfast show the incident was the funniest thing to happen at work.

A Melbourne security guard involved in a viral clip didn’t realise how widespread it was until his grandmother contacted him.

A security camera clip went viral during the weekend, showing two security guards throwing a pair of rowdy men out of a Melbourne club.

While one of the men pleaded with the men at the door, his friend went to a restaurant next door, grabbed a chair, and hurled it at the club’s door, aiming it at the security guards.

Instead of hitting the two security staff, the chair ricocheted off the side of his friend’s head, sending him crashing to the ground.

Security guard Jack can be seen bending over, roaring with laughter at the incident.

He told Jono, Ben and Megan on The Hits’ Breakfast show it was the funniest thing to happen at his work.

“I watched his mate going into the shop, I thought he was going to get a knife, so I had my eyes on him.

“As soon as he popped out with the chair, I thought, I’m not being involved in this.”

He was impressed how far the man could throw the chair.

“I’ll give him credit. I wouldn’t be able to do that if I tried and I was sober.”

The Melbourne security guard didn’t realise how much the clip would blow up.

“Within a few hours, it was everywhere.

“I’m getting messages from my nan, saying she has seen this on the news.”

He said the two guys probably wouldn’t be showing their faces in Melbourne soon.

“We’ve actually hired [the chair]. It’s working for the club now.”
