Truck cab engulfed in flames near Port of Auckland, no injuries reported

A truck fire has been extinguished after a cab was engulfed in flames near the Port of Auckland container terminal last night.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said they were called to Tāmaki Drive at around 10.30pm after reports that a truck had caught fire.

The cab was “fully involved” upon arrival.

Photos from the scene show the truck’s cab in flames and thick smoke billowing into the sky.

The truck was in the middle of the road under one of the overpass bridges.

The spokesperson said it took two crews an hour and a half to extinguish the fire. There are no reports of injuries.

“The incident last night occurred at the corner of Solent St and Tamaki Drive near the port’s container terminal entry,” a Port of Auckland spokesperson said.

“We are pleased that the driver is safe and grateful to everyone, especially Fire and Emergency NZ, for their quick response.”
