Māngere shooting: Police investigate after wounded man arrives at hospital with gunshot wound

Police were notified after a man self-presented at Middlemore Hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police are investigating the shooting of a man who arrived at an Auckland hospital on his own with a gunshot wound.

The incident is said to have occurred in the Māngere area about 12.36am, when the man first reported the injury to ambulance staff.

Police were then notified of the injured man, who self-presented at Middlemore Hospital a short time later with non-life-threatening wounds.

Hato Hone St John said it was alerted to an “assault incident” at 12.31am, but their crew stood down as assistance wasn’t required.

“Our enquiries are ongoing in understanding how the man sustained his injury and where the incident occurred,” Counties Manukau CIB Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers said.
