Former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan has been spotted dining with family at a trendy bar and restaurant at Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour.
Soul Bar & Bistro has played host to a slew of A-list international celebrities, such as Jay Z and Beyonce, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Scarlett Johansson and PostMalone.
Now, 72-year-old Irish actor Pierce Brosnan can be added to the list, as he was seen eating lunch and drinking wine with his wife and son this afternoon.
Brosnan shook hands with staff as he departed the restaurant and stopped to chat with some other patrons.
It is unclear why the actor has journeyed all the way to Aotearoa, but he had previously spent time across the Tasman.
In 2014, he played French King Louis XIV in the Sean McNamara film The King’s Daughter, which was partly filmed in Melbourne’s Docklands Studios and based on the Vonda N McIntyre book The Moon and the Sun.

His first wife, actor Cassandra Harris, is also Australian and starred in Roger Moore’s fifth Bond film For Your Eyes Only, which came out 14 years before Brosnan’s first time starring as the iconic British spy.
Harris and the actor were married for 11 years, until she died from ovarian cancer in 1991.

Brosnan remarried in 2001, to American journalist Keely Shaye Smith, seven years after they first met at a beach party in Mexico.
The couple have two sons, Dylan and Paris, both born before their wedding, while Brosnan had three children with Harris, sons Christopher and Sean and his late daughter Charlotte.
It wasn't clear why the former James Bond star was in Auckland.
Beyond James Bond, Brosnan is known for starring in Hollywood classics like Mrs. Doubtfire, The Thomas Crown Affair, the Mamma Mia! film series and more recently The Thursday Murder Club.
His restaurant of choice, Soul Bar & Bistro, opened in 2001 and has hosted events such as Trelise Cooper and Kathryn Wilson fashion shows.
