Dave Letele has had a gutsful of people dumping rubbish out the back of his gym in West Auckland and says he will publicly expose the culprits.
Community activist and retired professional boxer Dave Letele has threatened to expose anyone illegally dumping rubbish out the back of his West Auckland gym.
Letele has posted several videos on social media showing his followers how much has been dumped in the shared carpark by his Glen Eden facility.
Inhis first video, he shows clothes, a mattress and multiple cardboard boxes strewn all over the tarmac, with him declaring anyone responsible for such behaviour will be exposed on social media.
“Anyone dumping rubbish, I’m going to get the camera footage and I’m going to put you on social media with your number plate, everything, Okay so just know that,” Letele said.
Speaking on Ryan Bridge TODAY, the former boxer said this was also happening at another gym he operates in New Lynn near a Salvation Army shop.
“It’s like people have normalised this rubbish dumping, right? Especially at Salvation Army shops, and then we normalised no one bats an eyelid when people are rifling through the rubbish and then whatever’s left there is actually rubbish.”

Letele said his team had been working with nearby businesses to help clean up the mess and had found “needles, baby nappies, dog crap, couches, barbecues”.
He was quick to commend the security company that is now monitoring the property and sending through real-time updates on any potential rubbish dumpers.
Since the threat to name and shame, it appears no one has returned to spread their rubbish in the carpark, but Letele is still concerned someone will take a risk and do so.
“I said that on social and it went off, it was hundreds of thousands of views. I said when I catch you on camera, I’m putting you straight up, straight up online, we’re going to name and shame you guys.
“Every time I go to work, I’m looking around the corners, hoping and praying no rubbish has been dumped.”
Letele finished by saying there was “no excuse” for dumping rubbish there and “not only is it a disgrace, it’s disgusting”.
