Body found beneath downtown Auckland overpass, emergency services at scene

A man's body was found opposite the Tepid Baths in central Auckland this morning.

Emergency services have converged on a busy downtown Auckland street after a person died on a footpath.

Police and ambulances are at the intersection of Lower Hobson St and Custom St West investigating the discovery during early morning rush hour.

An officer at the scene said a man was found dead and police are now going through “sudden death” procedures and assessing the scene.

Police later confirmed the death is not being looked at as suspicious.

The body was near items of a makeshift sleepout beneath an overpass opposite the Tepid Baths.

A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John said they sent one ambulance and one rapid response vehicle to the scene.

They referred all enquiries to the police.
