Two people are facing firearms charges after a fully-loaded AK47-style weapon was found inside a cupboard under a South Auckland house.
Police say the pair were spotted driving in a vehicle of interest on Puhinui Rd in Papatoetoe about 5.40pm yesterday.
Officers did not give chase when the driver fledbut the Eagle later located the car on Redoubt Rd near Manukau City Centre.
Ground units cordoned the address, before police dogs tracked a person to a room beneath a house, where officers located a “fully loaded, semi-automatic AK-47-style firearm” and parts of a shotgun in a cupboard.
