Auckland Council's chief executive is set to get a $60,000 pay rise in the New Year.
The council's governing body has decided to offer Stephen Town a new remuneration package of $690,000 an amount that will be fixed for two years from January 15.
According to the council, external advice recommended a midpoint salary of $775,000 its offer was 89 per cent of this.
CEO Review Committee chairwoman Christine Fletcher said the decision had been made following a review of Mr Town's performance over the past two years.
"He is an experienced chief executive and has brought about some very positive changes at council."
