Nine members of a direct action group that occupied the Auckland offices of a recruitment agency have been arrested.
Members of Auckland Action Against Poverty locked themselves inside the boardroom of Manpower's Shortland St office to protest what they claim are illegal contracts.
A police spokeswoman said no charges hadbeen laid, but the protesters were being processed at Auckland Central police station.
The protesters claim Manpower is used by Work and Income New Zealand to "force beneficiaries into precarious and illegal contracts," a spokeswoman said.
Yesterday, Newshub reported that the global company was using Winz to find temporary staff.
A worker was asked to sign a contract with a clause that enabled the company to collect and pass on their workers' sexual preferences and practices, race, religious beliefs and political views.
A woman at the Manpower offices said she had no comment to make.
