Every supporter in the room stood at the end of the race to proudly sing the national anthem.
One fan said the win had made all the early mornings worth it.
"I've been getting up early to watch this whole time, I always had faith.
"It's just been great, so exciting and to get a result like that, it couldn't be better."
Another keen fan said he was already looking forward to the Cup being held in Auckland.
"I can't wait for that. You've got to be here, it's going to be incredible to have it here."
Yachtie David Vallance said watching Team New Zealand take the Cup was "fantastic".
"It's quite unreal even when we cross the line. It's been such a long time coming."
The crowd at teh yacht club erupted the moment Team New Zealand crossed the line.
Bells rang, crowds cheered and a confetti gun fired glitter across proud fans.
"I am so proud to be a Kiwi and look at those boys, amazing," supporter Carol Fraser said.
Euro Restaurant on Princes Wharf will help Aucklanders celebrate the win with free champagne today.
The swanky eatery will be offering free glasses of Louis Roederer for diners, and groups of four will be shouted a whole bottle.
"The ghosts of San Francisco have been exorcised - let's welcome the Auld Mug back in style," reads an email sent out by the restaurant.
