Air New Zealand has had to delay an international flight to Houston, Texas, because of engineering requirements.

A spokeswoman for the company confirmed Air New Zealand flight NZ28 to Houston did not depart from Auckland International Airport at 7.30pm as intended.

Because of engineering requirements the flight was delayed until 8am tomorrow, the spokeswoman said.

"Air New Zealand apologises to affected customers for the impact on their travel plans."
