15-year-old made false sexual assault complaint

A 15-year-old made a false complaint of sexual assault, according to police investigating the allegation.

The girl alleged a man entered her house in a Northland township and tried to sexually assault her on the morning of May 22.

She was reportedly left shaken and suffered cuts and bruises in the incident.

Police today said the girl had been referred to Youth Aid for making a false complaint.

They thanked the public for their help while the matter was being investigated.
