12-year-old hit by car while riding bike

A 12-year-old boy is in hospital after being hit by a car in Murapara near Rotorua.

He was struck and suffered serious head injuries while riding his bike at around 5.30pm yesterday.

A Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter was sent to the scene.

St John paramedics stabilised the boy and he was airlifted to Waikato Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
